Interview Coaching – important information

When attending interviews it is more likely that you will face an untrained interviewer than a trained interviewer. This can cause a number of problems aside from the obvious that quite often the best candidate does not get the job. There is often quite a bit of subjectivity involved on the part of the interviewer. Having said this, the number of companies now using psychometric testing is increasing which will inevitably lead to better hiring decisions.

It is important for jobseekers to prepare for interview BUT you should also know what can be asked and what can’t. The law is quite clear about this. Below is some useful information for jobseekers BUT employers take heed also. Ignore this and you could end up in hot water

The Employment Equality Act has identified 9 areas:

• Gender
• Family Status
• Marital Status
• Age
• Disability
• Sexual Orientation
• Religion
• Race
• Members of the Traveller Community

You cannot be asked questions on any of the above 9 areas. Employers you cannot ask questions on the above.
